The Future of The Messenger and NRI
Posted Image

Over this last week The Messenger Media Company has made a new logo!!! Oh yeah and there was a survey asking people basically should The Messenger Media Company's various outlets be continued or end, and also asking if the company should extend into Radio. Another questions were feedback on the company and what should be covered. Well the results are in, and we will reveal them. With 8 people having taken the survey.

- 1."Do you want to see more issues of The Messenger." 50% (4p) said yes, 25% (2p) said no, 25% (2p) said I don't care.
- 2. "Do you want to see more Episodes of Messenger TV?" 50% (4p) said yes, 38% (3p) said no, and 13% (1p) said I don't care.
- 3. "Would you like to see anime reviewed on Messenger TV? " 13% (1p) said yes, 63% (5p) said no, 25% (2p) said I don't care.
- 4. "Would you like to see more of The Daily Messenger?" 63% (5p) said yes, 25% (2p) said no, 13% (1p) said I don't care.
- 5. "Please give any comments or feedback to help improve The Messenger, The Daily Messenger, and Messenger TV in the future. " Three people responded, one person with "N/A" and one person with "No," And another replied with "¯\_(ツ)_/¯"
- 6. "Would you like to see Messenger Radio?" 50% (4p) said yes, 38% (3p) said no, and 13% (1p) said I don't care.
- 7. "What do you like to see covered?" Three people responded one person with "Regional Politics and Elections," and another person responded with "Nothing, your not interesting," and another with "News"
- 8. "Do you think Lewis and Daniel will actually stick around and continue NRI and The Messenger Media Company?" 38% (3p) said yes, 13% (1p) said no, 38% (3p) said I don't know, and 13% (1p) said I don't care.

So at looking at these responses we are able to get a lot and not at the same time. First off these results are in many ways humbling, knowing that The Messenger Media Company is "not interesting" is disheartening, but also means that we as a company need to reach out and do better. However at the same time, it would have helped if such respondent had provided constructive criticism. It is good though that at least a simple majority of respondents wanted to see The Messenger Media Company and all of its current products continue but were also wanting more products in the future.

So I can say that The Messenger will be continued. Messenger TV will be continued, however anime will not be reviewed on it for this region. That said I might still review anime on it, or another YouTube channel of mine but I will not be trying to market it much within the region, maybe just a wee bit. The Daily Messenger will continue. Since no feedback was given on how to improve these shows please expect them to continue just as they always have, but also we will cover more regional issues, elections, and news.

Messenger Radio, name to be finalized by the Department of Media Development, will be coming to your speakers soon! One of the first shows to be brought will be The Lewis and Daniel Show, name to be finalized by the DMD. This show will be much like how Liberty Radio once was, meaning it will be a bit serious, with lots of regional issues, Lewis and Daniel's opinion on them, and from time to time a guest and debate. Other shows may be coming later, but as for now that is all that The Messenger Media Company has decided.

So that's all the info we got, and all the stuff we could tell about it. Thank you for your continued support of The Messenger Media Company and North Republic Industries.

Lewis and Daniel Announces Chancellor Bid

Posted Image

Lewis and Daniel, a man of many hats and offices from TAR President to Speaker of the Senate to Associate Justice. He's held almost every office in the region and now he told The Messenger first that he has plans of running for Chancellor. This may come as a shock as he just returned from retirement and hasn't made any commitments on if he would stay or go. We were however able to get an exclusive interview with Lewis, and he was interviewed by our top interviewer Daniel. Here's the transcript -

Daniel: "So, Lewis, you just returned from retirement that was about two months long and you've not showed any signs of staying or going for that matter or anything. What's to say that you won't leave as Chancellor again?"

Lewis: "Well Daniel, as you may know I was a very dedicated member of this region, that retirement was the longest and one of the only breaks I have taken from the region since I first joined four years ago. It's true that I haven't really made plans on staying or going, but rest assured if I am elected Chancellor I will stay for the full duration of my term and be active and give the amount of work needed to run it. But if I am not elected I cannot make any such promises. I still expect some people to dismiss me or even campaign against me, but you know what I'm going to try and do the best that I can regardless."

Daniel: "I see, and just a standard question but what makes you qualified for this position?"

Lewis: "Well I am one of the most experienced members of the region. I've held almost every job. Speaker, Speaker Pro-tempore, President, Secretary of Interior and when it was called State as well, Secretary of Defense and Treasury. I've been Attorney General, Associate Justice, Senator, Emperor of The Holy Britannian Empire, Director of the Law Program, Chancellor of the Otaku Party. I'm also an author, you might have read some of my works like "A Paper on the Cults of the Republic," or "A Treatise on How to be a Lawyer." Not to mention I've written dozens of laws, and so much more. I know what it takes not only to be Chancellor and run the region but I know how to run the cabinet, and much more."

Daniel: "Very impressive, Thank you. Now do you think you are a little out of touch since you've been away?"

Lewis: "Sure, but we are still plagued by some of the same issues--The economy is one of the big ones. My administration will make the economy a key focus point. I've been apart of the economy here for almost four years, and I know that we need to get it running because it adds so much to this region when it works. Another one which I am sure is still here is apathy, there is a large portion of the population that just doesn't care about anything, and won't help and only hurt the region by not fully participating in it."

Daniel: "I see. Well Lewis, do you have a platform ready?"

Lewis: "Know that I am working on a platform and I do hope to show case it soon. It will be a platform of plans, ideas, and stances. A platform that will launch us into a new dawn for the region. We will leave the night, and walk into a new day. A better day."

Daniel: "I think that sums it up for this interview, thanks for your time Lewis."

Lewis: "It's been a pleasure Daniel."

There you go folks. Who knows if his campaign will be successful, surely crazier things have happened in the region before. We will just have to stay tuned.

Chancellor Zachary Drakan Resigns After Poor Approval Rating

Aid to Chancellor Drakan (Left) and Chancellor Zachary Drakan (Right) and Bow in Apology

On August 18th, 2016 Evolve Media released its findings in an approval poll on Chancellor Zachary Drakan. The results were some of the lowest approval ratings for a Chancellor in a long time. Chancellor Drakan received only 21% Approval and 42% Disapproval, with 32% being undecided (5% had no opinion at all). 19 People were polled, which is just about half of number who voted in the most recent general election. So a considerable portion of the region did participate in the poll.

As a result of his dismal approval rating and wanting a more active Chancellor, Chancellor Drakan resigned on August 21st, 2016. Originally Chancellor Drakan was going to stay in office and work to become a better Chancellor, but changed his mind when he realized he couldn't dedicate the time needed to be a successful Chancellor. With his resignation Vice Chancellor Obito Drakan assumed the office of Chancellor, and then proceeded to fire the entire cabinet and has so far failed to form a new cabinet. He did have a one day Vice Chancellor in Kastros who he fired the next day. JD Drakan was also appointed Coast Guard Commander.

Chancellor Obito Drakan however has re-instituted, revised, a famous Executive Order first issued by TAR President Lewis and Daniel. The new version states that "In my kingdom all servants will be required to wear TINY MINISKIRTS!!" The crowd cheered hard and long when those words were uttered.

It is unknown how successful Chancellor Obito Drakan will be, we will just have to watch and see. However this has not stopped Chancellor Obito Drakan from already proclaiming himself the best Chancellor that the region has ever had.

The Boy and The Beast

Also known as Bakemono no Ko; Mamoru Hosoda comes out with his latest work. If you don't know Hosoda he also the director of Wolf Children, A Girl Who Leapt Through Time, Summer Wars, and various other works.

The Story is about a boy named Ren, who's mother has just died, and his father is no where to be found. Not wanting to go leave with his distant relatives, Ren runs away from home. During this he encounters Kumatetsu, a beast, who accepts him as his appreciate and he renames Ren to Kyuuta. And they return to the world of the Beast. This summary does not give it justice. If I had to compare it with another movie, it is a bit similar to say Spirited Away, but each are deistic and unique in their own right.

The Story is amazing! I have heard some complaints though that they try to hard at certain points to force symbolism, and try to make the movie seem deeper or smarter than it actually is. I think that has some credit to it, but for me at least I didn't notice this when I watched it, and I don't really care. There is a point in the movie about 2/3rds of the way in where it starts to take a turn and it does shift you a bit, but for the most part it straightens out.

The Characters, I think that this is perhaps the strongest point of the movie. The characters. Especially Kumatetsu and Kyuuta, not only are they great characters their relationship throughout the film is amazing to watch and see them grow as teacher and student, and in many aspects. However good characters and relationships do not stop there, many other characters also are really good, and seeing the relationships between them and others is great.

The art was really well done, probably the best art in a Hosoda movie yet. And already he had good art and his own style, though I don't think that is because he drew it. One can tell the almost Ghibli influence.

The music was really well done.

The voice acting for the sub was really well done. I have not watched the dubbed version yet, so I have no clue of its quality, but just skimming over the English Voice Actors and they picked some top of the line ones. So I think that the version should be rather good.

The ending is bittersweet in a number of ways. It left me satisfied but longing for more, and different outcome. However I can't say that the ending is bad or wrong. Overall I was ok with it.

Overall this was an amazing movie, and will become one of my favorites. Right after I watched it, I knew that I had to go out and buy it on Blu Ray, or rather at the time DVD. I will discuss Blu Ray another time. And indeed when it came out I did buy it. This is Hosoda's best film to date, and I already liked his other works. But I will be surprised if he can top this one, and I will look forward to his future works.

Only Yesterday

Only Yesterday (1991), directed by Isao Takahata, is one of the Studio Ghibli movies that has never gotten an American release and one that I have really been wanting to watch. Lucky for me The Gateway Film Center showed it and I was able to watch it!

The Story is about Taeko Okajima who lives in the city but loves to take trips to the country side to help work in the fields. This time she plans on doing just that and right before she goes she starts to remember all about her 5th Grade self. So not only take a trip out to the country, but also one down memory lane.

The Story is very well done. It is very human, and very good. I think that it will really speak to adults more than any children, though I think children will still enjoy this work. I think that it is very relate-able , and very real. I thought it was really well done, not just in how it feels but also in the content.

The Characters, are well done they have depth and meaning, relationships and feelings. The characters are well done and I think help to make this story better and overall better.

The art, it is older but still really well done, I had no complaints about it overall. There is also a bit of a difference in art styles when the movie jumps between time periods, which I think help to enhance the setting and time and feel.

The Music was well done, no complaints.

The Voice Acting was also well done for the English version. One possible complaint might be the lead male character's voice (sorry can't remember or find name) which had a bit of a British accent if I remember right, so it is a bit off putting but I think you soon grow used to it and overall it doesn't subtract too much from the overall immersion. I haven't seen the subbed version so no clue about the voice acting there.

I really liked the Ending, it was satisfying and really good. I will say though if you don't already know - STAY DURING THE CREDITS.

Overall this becomes one of my favorite Studio Ghibli movie (I mean almost all Studio Ghibli movies are amazing), and easily my favorite film from Director Isao, who I've not always been a huge fan of in the past. I really want to buy this on blu ray and will some day soon I hope. I highly recommend watching it.
